    Job Description

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Manager to join a professional, high performing team within an established, innovative, and passionate charity. As the Finance Manager you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the charity's transactional ledger and supporting systems.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Specific Duties and Responsibilities


    •Ensure all financial transactions for departments and contracts are recorded in a relevant, timely, and accurate manner.


    •Manage and develop the accounting personnel team and the legal cashier.


    •Provide finance and business support to the legal department including monthly fee earner financials and annual budgets/targets.


    •Drive continuous improvement to end-to-end accounting and transactional processes including automation.


    •Manage the month-end timetable and prepare and post monthly accruals, prepayments, and similar accounting entries.


    •Sales ledger management including sales invoicing, credit control, aged debtors, and the core invoicing/contracts register.


    •Purchase ledger management including purchase invoices, self-employed contractor claims and visits, volunteer expenses, aged creditors.


    •Manage the processing of journal entries.


    •Perform general ledger/balance sheet reconciliations and inter-company system balances.


    •Oversee legal finance processes including the processing of Legal Aid monies.


    •Coordinate the annual audit process and completion of supporting financial information for the auditors in preparing the financial statements.


    •Produce quarterly VAT returns and oversee PAYE settlements and returns.


    •Active involvement in budgeting and forecasting processes.


    •Working capital management and cash flow forecasts.


    •Consult and work closely with the Finance Director on all financial matters.

    Main Purpose of Job:

    Manages all aspects of the charity's transactional ledger and supporting systems, including general, purchase, and sales ledgers, and provides business and finance support to the Legal department.

    Person Specification

    Qualifications:

    ·Minimum part qualified CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent.

    ·Experience in all aspects of ledger accounting.

    ·Proven record in achieving business objectives.

    ·Proven record in achieving service demands.

    ·Experience in designing and delivering process improvements.

    ·Line management experience.

    ·Minimum of five years' experience in Finance.

    ·Knowledge of accounting terms and concepts.

    ·Knowledge of best practice in ledger accounting.

    ·Knowledge of Legal Finance practices.

    ·Microsoft Excel to a minimum intermediate standard.

    About you

    We are looking for a self-starter who prides themselves in professionalism and accuracy. You will have experience and knowledge in all aspects of ledger accounting including best practice. Legal accounts experience is desirable.
