    Specialist Falls Prevention Physiotherapist - Band 6

    Due to an exciting new development, we are looking for an experienced Physiotherapist to join our renowned Tri-Borough Falls Prevention Service within CLCH. The service sees residents of Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea and Hammersmith & Fulham who have a history of falls, or who are at risk of falls. We offer comprehensive assessment within AHP-led and Consultant Geriatrician-led falls clinics and clients' own homes and deliver evidence based strength and balance classes as well as one to one rehabilitation.

    We a seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic B6 Physiotherapist, who is passionate about the care of older people and who has experience of managing people at risk of falls in a variety of clinical settings. The post holder will work in domically and clinic settings, will supervise lower banded staff and students and will take an active part in the continued development of the service through quality improvement projects.

    Main duties of the job

    The post holder will work alongside a team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Rehabilitation Assistants and will be supported by their team lead and the Falls Clinical Lead. The tri-borough falls service provides an excellent in-service training programme and regular clinical supervision. We pride ourselves on being at the cutting edge of evidenced based falls prevention management and have a national reputation for excellence.

    The post holder will work within professional standards and clinical guidelines to promote best practice and will undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner. The post holder will build up and maintain key relationships with referring services across CLCH and will be responsible for supervision of junior staff, rehabilitation assistants and Physiotherapy students.

    Job responsibilities

  • To understand the rationale behind multi-factorial falls prevention programmes and the evidence base supporting their delivery
  • Undertake specialist uni-professional and multi-professional detailed multi-factorial falls assessments for clients who have fallen. These clients will present with a variety of falls risk factors and often present with complex multi-pathologies including neurological conditions, musculoskeletal conditions, age related disorders, osteoporosis, vestibular disorders, learning disability and/or mental health diagnosis.
  • To have a working knowledge of up-to-date practices, such as FRAX assessment, home safety assessment and research ( NICE guidelines, Agile/CSP Falls Prevention Guidelines, AGS & BGS falls guidelines).
  • Be proficient in the assessment of clients with a wide range of pathologies and competent in the development and implementation of treatment plans for these clients who are referred to the Falls Prevention Service. Demonstrate the use of evidence-based outcome measures and interventions and in accordance with CSP Guidelines.     Education/Qualification

    Essential

  • Diploma or degree in Physiotherapy
  • Current HPC Registration
  • Up to date CPD Portfolio
  • Evidence of CPD relevant to the treatment of people with physical disabilities and those with falls risks factors.
  • Desirable

  • Post Graduate qualification in relevant field or equivalent combination of degree, short courses and experience
  • Training in appraisal and clinical supervision
  • CSP Membership
  • Member of Specialist Body AGILE

  • Minimum 3 years post registration experience
  • Experience of working with a client group who are risk of falls
  • Experience in a wide range of clinical areas, rehabilitation with older people, community rehabilitation, orthopaedics
  • Experience working with a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience of teaching and training to a wide range of people both formal and informal
  • Experience of using outcome measures
  • Experience of service development or working on quality initiatives
