Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) Face Fit Assistant


Do you want to be a part of the Infection, Prevention and Control Team at the North West Ambulance Service? Are you trained in RPE FFP3 Mask Fit Testing and / or are you willing to undertake accredited training provided by our Trust? If so, we are seeking to appoint 3 RPE Face Fit Assistants and we will provide you with the necessary training and equipment to become a trained, competent Face Fit Tester as part of our IPC Team.


If successful, you will be trained in using our TSI Portacount machines and you will be responsible to follow the fit testing process to ensure that respirators or masks fit the face of an individual to provide respiratory protection.

You will also be responsible for advising staff on how to carry out regulatory checks on their powered respiratory hoods that are provided to all staff.

The 3 positions available will be based in 3 different geographical areas that form the North West; Cheshire & Merseyside (CAM), Greater Manchester (GM) and Cumbria & Lancashire (CAL).

There will be some opportunity to work from home and you will also have access to an office base in those areas.

There may be occasions where it is necessary to travel long distances outside these areas to support service delivery.


The role will be for 37.5 hours a week Monday to Friday and there will be some flexibility over the hours and days worked so that both work and personal commitments can be managed.


North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.


Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.

We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.


Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
