We are currently recruiting for a Chief Officer Driver to work for Gloucestershire Police on a temporary ongoing basis.

You will be based out of the Police Headquarters in Quedgeley and will be working Monday to Friday.

DUE TO POLICE VETTING YOU MUST HAVE RESIDED WITHIN THE UK FOR AT LEAST 3 YEARS.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure the Chief Officers attend all functions and commitments on time and safely.
  • Plan journey route/times to ensure effective time management and safe delivery of the Chief Officer, informing them of any necessary route changes.
  • Provide practical, administrative support to Chief Officers whilst away from force area.
  • Undertake general maintenance of all Chief Officer vehicles to ensure all vehicles are road worthy at all times and that faults are reported.
  • Contribute to ensuring driving commitments are accurately reflected in Executive drivers calendars/diary highlighting any conflicts to ensure prioritisation of work requests.
  • Provide local driving services to Chief Officers, eg local collections
Experience and Qualifications

  • Successful completion of 'Standard' driving qualification and or professional driving experience and possess a full driving licence.
  • Proven geographical knowledge of Gloucestershire.
  • Proven understanding of emergency procedures including the use of blue lights.
  • Proven understanding of Highway Code and road traffic legislation.
  • Ability to demonstrate logic, integrity and confidentiality.
  • Ability in the use of Microsoft Office and any other communication resources frequently used by Chief Officers.
  • Ability to make quick and justified decisions to ensure timely and safe arrival of Chief Officers.

  • Vetting Level: The role must be vetted to a minimum of Management Vetting (MV & SC)
  • Mobility: The Force reserves the right to request you to carry out any other duties or move you to any other post appropriate to your grade, at any location within the county of Gloucestershire, as business requirements dictate.

  • Travel /

Driving Licence:
The post is a driving role and involves travel throughout the country, The possession of a full, driving licence for motor cars is essential

  • Training & Development: Undertake training and development when requested to maintain working knowledge
