    Qualification - Qualification in either Museum Studies or Conservation, or equivalent relevant experience.

    This is an exciting opportunity to take up a key role in the 'Our Town Hall' team, delivering a once-in-a-lifetime project for the city of Manchester. Work has been underway to restore and refurbish the Grade 1-listed Town Hall since 2017. You will play a vital part in the final delivery phase of the project, ensuring the building and its collections are ready for reopening.

    The Collections Officer is responsible for the care and management of the unique Town Hall collection, which includes furniture, sculpture, paintings and social history material. You will manage a programme of conservation, as well as managing the storage and documentation of the collection. You will plan for the return of the collection to the Town Hall, including overseeing the reinstallation of artworks and planning the storage of heritage material in the building. You will have responsibility for procuring and managing a range of specialist contractors.

    The Collections Officer also plays an important advisory role in several working groups that focus on the care and protection of the building and its heritage assets.
