Key Purpose

  • To provide additional tutoring to our students on a 1:1 or small group basis to help cover
any areas identified by the Head of Department for development

  • Create a bespoke learning plan for students based on feedback from teachers and SLT

Duties and responsibilities:


  • To act primarily as tutor for each of the identified students
  • To provide inlesson support when key concepts are being introduced and has been
agreed as a priority to enhance outcomes

  • To liaise directly with classroom teachers to get learning materials to enhance
understanding of key concepts and practise them

  • To establish an academic plan for each child using baseline data and specific
objectives from each teacher

  • To liaise directly with the Head of Department to provide regular (1/2 termly)
academic progress reports

  • To provide direct input into PEPs around academic progress

  • Provide weekly academic mentoring meetings that provide support and guidance to

  • To discuss grades with pupils and to track, monitor and record achievement

small groups of pupils

  • To work closely with teaching staff to develop pupils' academic and organisational
skills

  • To undertake targeted one to one inventions and small group support for pupils as
directed by curriculum staff

  • To identify and refer to leadership when further targeted academic intervention or
specialist/ support might be needed

  • To maintain confidentiality
  • The completion of all related administration or those asked for by a senior colleague

Responsibilities of all school staff
At an appropriate level, according to the job role, grade and training received, all

- maintain appropriate standards of professional appearance and conduct and to

ensure that all interactions with students, staff, parents, governors and visitors reflect a
commitment to high professional standards of courtesy and behaviour and

effectively contribute to the safeguarding of learners at all times;
- keep their Line Manager/ SLT appraised of any concerns whilst undertaking this role.


Professional development
As part of your performance development, ensure that you:

  • fully engage in the Professional Development and CPD programme as required;
- contribute to the setting of your own performance development targets which ensure

WSS improvement outcomes are met;
- regularly review your own practice and set personal targets in consultation with your

line manager;
- take responsibility for, seek out and engage fully with CPD in order to support your

development as a practitioner;
- maintain accurate and up-to-date professional development records on your

Bromcom file;
- develop effective working relationships and network with local, national and digital

agencies to ensure that you are at the forefront of developments within your field of
expertise;
- disseminate best practice further to CPD opportunities made available to you.
