Supplier Development Engineer

Up to £32/hr - Inside IR35

Peterlee/Remote - Hybrid

12 month initial contract

Have you got supplier development experience within a steel fabrication environment?


A Supplier Development Engineer opportunity has become available for one of the world's leading manufacturers of off-highway machinery and diesel and natural gas engines.


You will serve as the trusted advisor for assigned supply base through the following functional responsibilities: Assessing potential suppliers via on-site Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development, Management (QCLDM) audits, driving implementation of Lean,BIQ, & APQP, continuously reviewing supplier capacity, assuring production readiness through rigorous review of supplier PPAP submission, being recognized as the expert in supplier quality.

Opportunity for travel - visiting suppliers all over Europe (main supply base is in eastern Europe)

  • Experience in the steel fabrication industry
  • Good knowledge of welding
  • Be able to adapt to different mentalities as will be working with multiple locations and countries.
  • Must have willingness to travel frequently
  • Eye for detail and quality of parts
  • Knowledge of tools and techniques of 6 Sigma methodology (Green Belt training and/or other 6 Sigma experience)
  • Understanding of QCLDM
  • Familiarity with procurement tools, systems and processes
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes used to produce components and assembly
  • Knowledge of shop operations and maintenance procedures
