    The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is seeking to appoint a Department Manager to join the Department of Social Work and Social Policy.

    The Department Manager role is a key strategic role which assists the Head of Department to deliver the Department's strategy for growth.

    The Department of Social Work and Social Policy is diverse, with 4 UG programmes and 8 PGT programmes.

    The Department has 4 broad areas of research and knowledge and aims to create an environment which promotes internationally excellent research that has a positive impact on both practice and policy.

    The Department has the Centre for Excellence for Children's Care and Protection (CELSIS) and the Children and Young People's centre for Justice (CYCJ to engage and drive forward improvements in policy and practice through partnership working.

    The postholder will be an active member of the Department Management Group to ensure the Department meets and exceeds the delivery of their KPIs.

    The Department Manager role has full accountability, responsibility and oversight of teaching, research, and knowledge exchange provision.

    The Department Manager is also responsible for finance and resource management, strategic planning and monitoring and driving continuous improvement agenda to deliver growth and improved performance against all aspects of the University's Strategic Plan.

    The Department Manager has direct line management responsibility of the Assistant Department Manager, enabling them to lead and manage the professional services team and the operations of the Department.

    The successful candidate will be degree qualified with considerable experience in a similar or related role or have significant experience in a range of steadily larger, directly relevant roles.

    Experience of working in a similar role within a higher education institution would be desirable.

    The post holder will have previous experience in managing staff and continuous improvement, as well as dealing with a range of stakeholders.

    Excellent analytical, interpersonal and IT skills will be essential to the role.
    It is anticipated that formal interviews for this post will be held on 18/06/2024.
