Acclaimed for its imaginative programming and innovative productions on the main stage, Opera North also programmes its own venue, the Howard Assembly Room with an enormous diversity of activity.

Committed to producing high quality food and service, Kino at Opera North is looking for an experienced and well-motivated individual to fill the role of Sous Chef for our brand new team for when we re-launch the restaurant.

They must have a good knowledge of HACCP and due diligence, be exceedingly mindful of food waste and costs, and be able to manage the production of mise en place for service.

They must be a team player and be able to positively motivate any other members of the kitchen team.

They should be able to lead the kitchen in the absence of the head chef, whilst delivering the same standards as when the head chef is present.

Experience of a high-volume restaurant is preferred but not essential.

The Sous Chef should have:

Good knowledge of food trends and sustainability
Have a flair for utilising waste and off cuts
Level 1 & 2 Health and Safety
Minimum 2 years relevant experience
Awareness of manual handling techniques
Awareness of COSHH and chemical safety
