NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles.

We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.


The shift pattern for this position is Monday to Friday and participation in 11-7 shift rota, extended hours, weekend working rota and public holiday working rota.


We are looking for a highly motivated and proactive individual to join our friendly and supportive neurosciences pharmacy team in the delivery of clinical pharmacy services.

You will work closely with the Neurosciences Pharmacists, Clinical Pharmacy Technician, Rotational Pharmacy Technician, Rotational Pharmacy Support Worker and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide high quality, patient focused pharmaceutical care to patients with in the INS.


You will ensure the safe and effective supply of medicines to patients, co-ordinate and manage ward top-up services and be responsible for recycling & redistributing non-stock medicines that have been ordered for patients, helping to ensure that missed doses are avoided.

You will also facilitate the transfer of patients own medicines to downstream wards to help reduce duplicate ordering, reduce drug expenditure and potential subsequent waste.

You will dispense medicines for inpatients and for patients being discharged from hospital and support nursing staff with good housekeeping of medicines.


The post will be based within the Institute of Neurosciences (Regional Directorate) at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital working 37.5 hours per week.

You will participate on the extended hours rota, weekend working rota and public holidays rota.

A proficient level of general education at National 5/Standard Grade level or above is essential.

Experience in using stock control systems is desirable.

Previous experience in healthcare/ pharmacy or customer facing role is desirable.
