Responsibilities

Ensure dogs and cats entering the Home are cared for to a high welfare standard and are appropriately assessed and cared for in a welfare friendly manner, liaising on rehoming decisions as appropriate
Allocate and supervise daily tasks to the Animal Care Assistants and Kennel Assistant
Ensure the team report broken or missing fixtures and fittings
Support fundraising and awareness activities, encouraging participation within the team
Liaise with the nominated vet practice regarding vet visits and treatments for animals in the Home's care
Ensure animal food supplies and consumables are maintained
Motivate and coach the team, helping them manage their workloads effectively while focusing on good welfare and rehoming practices
Provide a written handover to the Manager on immediate return from a period of leave or training handover to include details on general animal care; particular animal treatments and behaviours; movements of animals in and out of the home; issues or observationsrelating to customers; issues with supplies or fixtures and fittings; staff performance and issues; any circumstances which may pose a risk to the reputation or performance of the Home's objectives and ethos
Generally deputise for the Home Manager as and when required, assuming necessary management responsibility for the Home if necessary and in the absence of the Home Manager.
