Job Title:
Protective Security Advisor - Protective Security Operations


Salary:
£32,194 to £34,452 plus a Location allowance of £1,721. Salary is negotiable based on Skills knowledge and experience.

Working within the Physical Security Unit as a Protective Security Advisor you will produce security surveys, vulnerability reports and personal physical security assessments for a wide range of internal and external partners but with specific responsibility for the MPS Estate.


Ensuring mitigation of risk from physical vulnerabilities within these areas to ensure both fast time responses are met when needed and long-term solutions are embedded within business as usual.

You will act as the security expert on MPS projects both regarding the expansion of the estate and procedural change.

Key Tasks:


  • Conducting physical security assessments for the MPS estate and partner organisations.
  • Providing high quality reports to assist risk mitigation.
  • Assisting in the strategic assessment of the MPS estate.
  • Providing advice and support to the Building Security Officer Network.
  • Providing advice and input to the MPS estate policies and procedures.
  • Assisting property services directorate in developing security standards.
  • Conducting security compliance assessments for the MPS estate.
  • Acting as security contact for MPS projects.

Vetting
This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis.

Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (SC) with the addition of Management Vetting (MV) before taking up the post.

SC/MV.

Additionally, this material is of particular sensitivity to the UK and its distribution must be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be granted access.

However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties.

For the purpose of safeguarding national security and in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check/Management Vetting (SC/MV) OR Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.


Confidentiality Agreement
Applicants should also be aware of the need to sign a confidentiality agreement on taking up the post.

  • Experience of risk management.
  • Proven experience of problem solving.
  • Proven experience in report and briefing note writing.
  • Flexible approach to work, ability to work with mínimal supervision and manage own workload.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in multiagency environments and be able to travel around the MPS and nationally on occasion.
  • SC/MV Vetted or the willingness to undertake.

Desirable Criteria

  • CPDA/DOCO qualifications.
  • CPNI Protective Security Training Pathway.
  • SABRE qualified.
  • Proven experience of security within the CT environment.
  • Experience of protective security projects.
  • Experience in physical security assessment.
