    Job summary

    Thisis an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and forward thinking team. Cardiac Catheter Suite at Worcester includes2 laboratories providing 24/7 PPCI for the populations of Worcestershire andHerefordshire. In addition, we alsoundertake electrophysiology studies and implantation of complex devices.

    Weare looking for an experienced nurse who has worked and gained the relevantexperience as a band 5/6 within catheter lab or cardiology.

    Youwill have excellent interpersonal skills and leadership qualities, you willhave drive, vision and initiative to motivate others and develop this service. Excellent decision making skills and evidenceof continuous professional development are essential and you must also haveexperience of working in both cardiology and a multi-professional environment.

    Thesuccessful applicant will gain skills in this speciality and undertakingin-house training to support them in this role.

    Main duties of the job

  • To be responsible, with the support of the manager, for the day to day, smooth running of the PPCI 24/7 within the Cardiac Catheter Suite.
  • This service will run on a shift rota basis, on-call 24/7.
  • To provide effective leadership and to act as a good role model, working with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and co-ordinate all aspects of care in the best interests of the patient and family.
  • To ensure the maintenance of a high quality patient focussed care at all times through the effective leadership, management of staff and resources.
  • This will include leading a team of nurses to deliver a high standard of care in the areas of pre assessment, pre peri and post procedure care and follow up of angiography, elective/primary/rescue angioplasty and pacemakers and cardioversion patients.
  • To act as team leader for clinical staff.
  • To be responsible for clinical and non-clinical management of a ward area in the absence of the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse.

    Job responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain effective communication and foster good working relationships with all multidisciplinary teams, both internal and external.
  • dealing with performance issues, holding staff meetings. Able to support and talk to distressed patients, visitors, and staff members.
  • Bring to the attention of the Senior Sister/Charge any factors which may adversely affect patient care or service provision.
  • Report all serious incidents to the appropriate Manager / Director within 24 hours; these include Never Events, serious falls, and grade 3 or 4 pressure ulcers.
  • Ensure accurate, comprehensive contemporaneous and clear documentation of patients care.
  • Ensure that own and others written reports are in accordance with Trust policy and NMC guidelines
  • Be familiar with the policy for safeadministration of prescribed therapies, including Medicines Management,Intravenous Therapy, Patient Group Directives, clinical guidelines for exampleDiabetes, Warfarin

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • First Level Registration.
  • Evidence of professional Development.
  • Evidence of management experience/training.
  • Immediate Life Support
  • Desirable

  • Appropriate Teaching Certificate.
  • Degree or working towards.
  • Post registration cardiology / CCU or critical care course / intervention course.
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Catheter Lab experience.
  • Cardiology clinical experience.
  • Ability to manage own workload and delegate appropriately.
