Description
Contract to start until with a possible extension.

Contribute to a team that provides a comprehensive income processing, reconciliation and support service for Revenues Services.

This includes support for all directorates and all the Client's income streams.

This is to include supporting management in the development of policy and strategy on all matters relating to Revenues Processing & Reconciliation

Be part of a team responsible for providing an income processing and reconciliation service for revenues systems.

Receipt and bank all payments received via the post, various client offices and the client's main bank account.

Maintain procedures for the recording of post dated cheques ensuring they are presented on the due date.

Process returned and post dated cheques.

Undertake annual archival of the team's documentation.


Maintain up to date knowledge of legislation and working practices to improve the standard of service provided by the team.


Knowledge
Basic knowledge of local taxation and revenue collection systems and understanding of the sources of local government income.

Knowledge of bank clearance processes.

An understanding of the role of income processing and reconciliation

Demonstrable competence in Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel and Access) and excellent numeric skills


Qualifications & Experience
Experience of working in an area of revenue collection which includes revenue processing and reconciliation.

Proven experience of payment balancing and resolving imbalances and posting errors.

Proven experience of investigation and clearance of payments in suspense accounts.

Ability to accurately maintain supporting documentation in respect of the above.


Proven ability to liaise with all levels of staff, members of the public and other organisations in a professional and tactful manner.

Ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines and contribute to the efficient operation of the team
