Service Care Solutions are looking for a Youth Support Worker based at Leeds District Police HQ on an 8-week contract.

Job role/responsibility:
The overall purpose of this post is to contribute to the development of the Liaison and Diversion Service, by working in partnership with other agencies to reduce health inequalities within a specific targeted group within the criminal justice system.
- To contribute to the development of the Liaison and Diversion Service, by working in partnership with other agencies to reduce health inequalities within a specific targeted group within the criminal justice system.
- To make referrals to the appropriate services and to encourage and support young people and vulnerable adults to access statutory and voluntary sector services so that health and social outcomes may be improved.
- To contribute to community safety and crime reduction strategies by working in partnership with other criminal justice agencies to achieve a reduction in offending and reoffending.
- To promote the welfare of vulnerable adults, children and young people. To promote their capacity for change and social inclusion.
- To deliver and review interventions within a framework informed by research evidence and best practice guidance, which is underpinned by principles of antidiscriminatory practice.
- To positively engage vulnerable adults, children and young people at risk of social exclusion and their families, enabling their participation in the planning, delivery and review of services.
- You will work with young people with a range of mental health, learning disabilities, substance misuse and social vulnerabilities.
- You will undertake assessments of young people who have been referred into the L&D service
- You will make referrals to the appropriate services and encourage and support young people to access statutory and voluntary sector services so that their health and social outcomes may be improved.
- You will write reports, update case notes and other records as required.
- Covering custody as and when required.
Work experience/Qualifications required:
- Experience of working directly with young people
- Hold a professional qualification in related field (e.g. Social Care, Health, Education, Advice and Guidance) or extensive equivalent relevant experience.
- A Current driving licence is essential (reasonable adjustments will be considered for any applicants who are unable to drive due to a disability)
- Knowledge and understanding of the risks and need that young people experience that are associated with adverse outcomes
