    Global Engineering Director

    Foster a culture of transparency and trust with operations teams, service partners and customers a minimum of 3 days on site per week .

    The Global Engineering Director provides strategic leadership for engineering processes, system & technologies, compliance, and capital projects for all R&D sites globally.

    The infrastructure and services within R&D operations are provided by contract service partners, and as such, the role will ensure effective governance of the contracted relationships to confirm service delivery remains quality, safety and customer focused; and effective service performance management is in place.

    There is currently over £300M in capital projects over the next three years focused on EHS/Life Safety, Business Continuity, Pipeline, Sustainability and Accessibility projects within our R&D facilities.

    This role will be accountable for prioritization and delivery of the capital portfolio and will ensure we remain compliant with our EHS and engineering standards across the sites.

    Responsible for the provision of a single point of accountability for engineering services to the Head of R&D Engineering Services.

    Apply Global Engineering Standards, EHS, Automation, and Sustainability programs to the sites.
    Deliver productivity and cost saving projects for operations through Engineering and Automation deployment.

    Build global organizational capability and competence to deliver objectives, working with the Engineering CoE to identify and execute value-add projects and the appropriate development and application of standards.

    Responsible for all areas of the global engineering operations, statutory compliance, and Engineering staff development and deployment within the organization.

    Ensure capital project delivery (~£125m per annum) is appropriately prioritized to mitigate risk, support GSK business strategy and improve the site environmental sustainability.

    Ensure lifecycle asset plans are in place to support an Asset value of ~£2bn.

    Responsible for all areas of the facilities and engineering capital program, engineering operations, compliance, and environment sustainability for R&D operations.

    Member of the R&D Engineering Services Leadership team.

    Implement strategy, policy and standards to deliver key service contracts globally in the areas of engineering, sustainability, operational safety and capital projects.

    Development and management of the group capital program of ~£125m ensuring all capital investments are delivered with the required technical specification, capacity, schedule and cost.

    Develop, plan, and execute 3–5-year Facility Investment Plans for each site supported by appropriate cost estimates, aligned to Global Engineering Standards.

    This should include Preventative, Predictive and Reliability Centered Maintenance programs as well as life cycle management assessments.

    Develop solutions for service delivery, act as the key facilities management stakeholder and/or contributor to facilities services tender processes when seeking to appoint external third-party service providers and complete integration into the global portfolio.

    Uphold and ensure compliance with internal GSK policies, standards, procedures, alerts and relevant external regulatory requirements with respect to Quality, Statutory and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) requirements.

    The engineering function and safety activities will ensure the sites are always a safe place to work and 'inspection ready'.

    Ensure comprehensive Energy Management, Carbon Impact and Utility Cost Reduction Plans are developed and implemented with specific energy consumption target reductions agreed with the Site Heads and are aligned with GSK's overall objectives in this area.

    Build relationships with key senior GSK management, customers and Service Partners to enable the successful delivery of services.

    Ensuring EHS compliance programs are in place for all equipment and ensuring that processes and facilities are designed, maintained, inspected, and operated to meet the requirements of all local, national and GSK regulations.

    Accountable for delivering global safety program and construction safety improvement projects.

    Ensure comprehensive Environmental Sustainability Plans are developed and renewable energy generation projects are delivered to meet GSK's 2030 net zero target.

    Organizing site engineering staff to ensure Duty Holding and Technical Authority Capability is in place at all sites.
    Holds Engineering degree (Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical)
    ~ Project Mgmt., 5+ yrs experience in an Operations or Engineering leadership role.
    ~ Outstanding managerial skills and leadership abilities in order to motivate and influence senior GSK executives and managers in a demanding and rapidly evolving environment.
    ~ Experience in delivering and managing Capital Projects globally/regionally.
