Are you passionate about heritage and culture? Do you excel in delivering exceptional visitor experiences? Belfast City Council is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Tours and Collections Assistant


Your Duties:


  • As a Tours and Collections Assistant, you'll have the exciting opportunity to:
  • Conduct public and private tours of City Hall and its surroundings, catering to diverse audience interests.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to develop themed tours for special events and festivals.
  • Assist in implementing efficient booking processes and financial management for tours.
  • Support exhibition operations and provide assistance to visitors with queries.
  • Develop, update, and interpret tour scripts in line with political and cultural sensitivities.
  • Contribute to marketing activities and manage loan agreements for art and artefacts.
  • Oversee storage and movement of cultural assets in compliance with conservation guidelines.
  • Update art and artefact displays and databases, and provide training to casual tour guides.
  • Record donations and provide operational cover when needed.
  • Assist with general office administrative tasks and participate in project teams and events.

Your Profile:


Minimum of one year's relevant experience in each of the following three areas:

  • Delivery of tour service and visitor experience.
  • Working in a customerfacing environment, including cash handling duties.
  • Utilising Microsoft Office and other specialised software to generate servicebased reports and statistics.
  • Possess at least five GCSEs (grades A
  • C), including English or equivalent qualifications.

Effective communication, both orally and in writing, with diverse stakeholders to uphold Belfast City Council's image.

Team Working Skills:
Prioritisation of tasks, independent decision-making, collaborative teamwork, and innovative problem-solving.

  • Information Technology Proficiency: Competence in using standard office and finance software.

Your Benefits:
