The Business Planning Specialist role is based within our Devonport Royal Dockyard business area.

Comprising of 14 dry docks, four miles of waterfront and 25 tidal berths, Devonport is the base for numerous surface vessels as well as the base and refit centre for the Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarines.

Devonport has also recently been selected as the base port for the Navy's new Type 26 frigates and will become the maintenance centre for the future submarine programme.

The role

The difference our new Business Planning Specialist will make

As a Business Planning Specialist, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary where you'll manage the Devonport demand plan so this role is critical in making sure they have all the underlying controls.


Day to day, you'll support the development and maintenance of the Devonport demand plan, ensuring capture of all underlying assumptions, change control records and provide updates and reporting to support corporate decision making.

This role provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home. Mondays are normally Onsite.


Essential experience

  • Experience within a planning/programme management environment.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite of Programs (Especially MS Excel).
  • Competent in the use of Primavera P6 preferred.
  • Highly numerate and analytical
  • Educated to a HNC level (or recognised equivalent).
  • Professional Planning or Business Management Qualification preferred
  • Able to demonstrate the Leadership Behaviour Competencies at Level
  • You will need to satisfy security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
