    Description

Moving our economy onto a more circular footing is imperative if we are to tackle the climate and biodiversity crises. Likewise, the role of organisations in delivering and managing their activities in a way that recognises the true value of the natural environment is no longer optional. IEMA (The Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment) is recruiting for an experienced policy and engagement lead to spearhead our work in these areas.

IEMA is the largest professional body in the UK for everybody working in the environment and sustainability with more than 21,000 members.

Circular business models and procurement, alongside key standards and systems for driving impactful environmental management – are all areas where IEMA is engaged in shaping the policy debate and supporting our members to navigate changing requirements.

We are recruiting for an individual that can spot where IEMA can really make a difference to the way in which policy development on these issues is done, creating the case for change and working with colleagues from across the organisation to deliver this.

Candidates must be educated to degree level or equivalent and have experience of circular economy and broader environmental issues, ideally with experience of working in a membership organisation or professional body. The role will require you to have had experience of managing groups of stakeholders, developing policy positions and reports, alongside delivering communications and other external affairs activities together with experience of managing programmes or projects.

Experience of using a range of social research methods, to draw out insights and knowledge from our members, would be an advantage. The ability to assimilate information rapidly and write with coherency and fluency is a must.

You will be mainly based from home, with the requirement to attend meetings at short notice in London and other UK locations as required. Candidates must therefore be based somewhere within easy access to central London and have a reliable broadband speed to be able to work from home. All travel to meetings can be expensed.

In return you will receive a competitive salary, 25 days holiday (plus 3 days at Christmas), 6% employer pension contributions, life assurance, medical cashplan, group income protection and perkbox benefits.

IEMA is committed to equality of opportunity. Anyone will be considered for a role within our business and we will welcome applications from all candidates regardless of background. Over the last year we have put a significant amount of work behind ensuring that our jobs are accessible for all and that we are nurturing an inclusive and diverse culture. We are also delighted to have achieved the official status of being a Great Place to Work .
