THE ROLE
The Land & Property Manager at Smithills Estate will provide an on-site presence with
regards to all dealings with the agricultural tenants (AHA & FBT). They will provide
specialist advice to the dedicated project team with regards to legal, property matters and
tenancy issues on the estate as well as liaising and engaging with specialist external
professionals and stakeholders when required.
By building and maintaining effective relationships with the land owning / land agency
community, you'll help to meet the Trust's aims.
The L&P manager will be instrumental in helping to roll out the Trust's long term vision
for the estate and will assist in delivering the UK Land Plan as it applies to the region,
together with the delivery of carbon sequestration projects where the opportunity arises.
THE CANDIDATE
You will be a qualified Chartered Surveyor, preferably with a rural practice background, and a
strong knowledge of rural land use policies. You'll have experience of leading complex,
multi-disciplinary projects bringing together a variety of skills from both within and outside
the organisation to plan, monitor and deliver projects on time and to budget.
Using your initiative, you'll be adept at identifying and exploring opportunities to deliver
the Trust's aims whilst maximising a budget in a cost-effective manner. You will be efficient
and able to perform to a high standard in a constantly changing external environment, managing
risks, identifying and capitalising on opportunities in line with the Trust's cause.
A full driving licence and ability to undertake travel across a wide area, sometimes to remote
locations is essential, with occasional overnight stays.
