    Description

    We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic individual to join our team within the Paediatric Emergency Department here at the Dudley group.

    You will be expected to carry out ECG's, Wound care, Plastering, cannulation, venepuncture and will be supported to carry out these skills competently. You will be responsible for leading the shift, and ensuring that local and national targets are met.

    You will support the lead nurse with implementation of improvements and support with data collecting

    The area comprises of x4 medical assessment cubicles, as well as a isolation / treatment cubicle, x4 minor injury cubicles, and an adolescent room where patients can feel relaxed whilst having the opportunity to access game consoles or age appropriate games.

    A dedicated paediatric resus room is available to provide 1:1 dedicated specialised care, with the support from the extended paediatric medical team and ward.

    With a continuing growing nursing team we strive to provide excellent care to our patients and their families.

    Main duties of the job

    The post holder will be an experienced ED nurse with at least 2 years experience. They will work closely with the ED team taking charge of the paediatric emergency department and will be responsible for overseeing the department during the shift, including the safe management of patient flow , whilst meeting national ED targets.

    They will be expected to take responsibility for co-ordinating and safe effective management of the department on a shift-by-shift basis.

    To triage patients safely, understanding KPI's that embed the safety of our children

    To respond and participate in paediatric resuscitation calls as needed on a shift by shift basis

    To have knowledge and skills relevant to the clinical setting and be responsible for the delivery of clinical expertise in all aspects of patient care.

    To work closely with the children's ward and PAU in ensuring flow and collaborate working relationships

    To participate in all aspects of children's safeguarding, knowing how to protect our patients and safeguard them appropriately.
