We have been approached by a special school in Cardiff seeking a dynamic and compassionate SEN teacher to join their team on a long term basis, teaching pupils between the ages of 4-11 years.

The school support children with Specific Language Impairments(SLI) as well as pupils with a range of other complex learning needs, including pupils with Autism/ social communication needs, Global Developmental Delay, Down Syndrome and physical/ medical needs.


As an SEN teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering lessons to children ages 3-19 with autism and additional learning needs.

You will work closely with the child's parents and any other professionals involved in the child's care to developand implement an effective education plan.


Job responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and inclusive lessons to children with autism and additional learning needs
  • Use visual supports, structure, routines, and positive reinforcement to support the learning of children
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with children, parents, and other professionals involved in the child's care
  • Use multisensory teaching techniques to engage children with additional learning needs
  • Collaborate with the child's parents and other professionals to develop and implement an effective education plan
  • Assess and track the progress of children and adjust teaching strategies as needed
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay uptodate on best practices for teaching children with autism and additional learning needs

Qualifications:

  • Teaching qualification
  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council
  • Experience working with children with autism and additional learning needs is preferred
