Department Description:


This is a great opportunity for an PA to experience life at the heart of the Bank in a Deputy Governor's (DG) office, and to get exposure to a wide range of people and business areas right across the organisation.

We are a friendly and supportive team who work collaboratively with other Governors' offices and business areas within the Bank.

Primary responsibilities will include supporting the Lead PA; providing direct administrative support to Deputy Governor including by overseeing his travel, correspondence, and declarations; as well as acting as Secretariat administrator for PRA ExCo.

The roleholder will also provide diary management for the private secretaries_._ _


The role will provide an opportunity to work closely with the Deputy Governor and staff of all levels from across the Bank.

There will also be opportunities to assist other Governors' offices when required and scope and opportunities to get further involved in a broad range of issues.


Detailed Description:

The jobholder would have primary responsibility for:
Diary management - providing full diary support to the Privates Secretaries. Using judgement on which meetings take priority and are in line with the Privates Secretaries' responsibilities is essential and ensuring the diaries are maintained smoothly and effectively to maximise the efficient use of time;
Leading on planning all UK and international travel (including booking flights and accommodation, arranging Visas where applicable, preparing itineraries, organising meetings with domestic and international senior stakeholders, organising dossiers of papers and completing expenses)

Leading on expenses for the Deputy Governor and Private Secretaries;
Providing full secretariat support for PRA ExCo, including scheduling meetings and owning the forward agenda and action log.

Supporting the lead PA in diary management of the Deputy Governor including booking in visitors, ordering catering and confirming who will be attending in person/virtually, in addition to supporting the DG when working for the office with on-site tasks

Leading on records management within the office including the records of key decisions and meetings, along with coordination of the Deputy Governor's correspondence - following up where necessary;
Completing the monthly returns for the Deputy Governor which include the Gifts and Entertainment return, pro-active release of the diary and the Finance returns;
Providing cover to the lead PA when required

Leading on
the monthly Governors
contact lists, and maintaining the office intranet pages and OneNote.

Working closely with the rest of our office to support the Deputy Governor as needed. This might include assisting the lead PA and small projects within the office.


You will need to develop a close working relationship with the lead PA and Private Secretaries, in order to provide seamless professional support to the Deputy Governor.

You will also be encouraged to develop relationships across the Governors' area and PRA as a whole.


Job requirements:


  • Strong organisation and good workload management skills as you're likely to have to manage multiple tasks at the same time and often to tight deadlines;
  • Good oral and written communication skills, with an eye for detail and a high level of accuracy;
  • Display the highest standards for protecting and maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, and in particular with the DG
  • High proficiency in Microsoft office, including able to manage a busy inbox and diaries
  • A good knowledge of travel and expenses would be useful but is not essential.
  • Above all, you should be a reliable, enthusiastic, and flexible team player with a good sense of humour who can work calmly and consistently under pressure in situations which are often fluid.
