We are seeking to appoint an Associate Director with the Infectious Diseases Data Observatory (IDDO), at the Centre for Tropical Medicine, where you will work alongside the Director to deliver IDDO's vision and mission, as set out in its strategic plan.


IDDO works collaboratively with researchers based in endemic countries to enable equitable data sharing and draw upon the expertise of specific disease experts.

IDDO supports the exchange of technical and operational know-how to facilitate the submission, curation and sharing of individual patient data, and ensure these are controlled through effective, compliant governance processes.

IDDO works on improving methodologies to assess drug efficacy and safety.


It is essential that you hold a relevant PhD/DPhil with significant post-qualification research experience, and be a leader, with a strong track record in both data sharing policy and clinical research in tropical medicine, including emerging infections.

It is essential you have deep knowledge of your specialism to enable innovation and new understanding in the field, as well as significant experience of developing research strategies and managing research projects.

You will have a successful track record of attracting and managing significant research income and the ability to engage existing and future funders.

Project management experience and experience in teaching and academic supervision are essential for this role.


This position is offered full time on a fixed term contract for 2 years, and is funded by the Wellcome and ExxonMobil Foundation.
