As a Senior Research Nurse with specialty interest of research transition and Learning Disability, you will lead on the co-ordination and implementation of several research programmes from a variety of different specialities.

These research programmes may start in the CRF and transition into the clinical service. Or they may be directly run in the clinical service. You will be accountable for delivery of patient care , clinical research family liaison, ethical recruitment of participants, through facilitating informed consent , administration of the clinical interventions required as part of the study, ensuring the observation ,responding and reporting to side effects ) is undertaken in a timely fashion as well as liaising with research staff in the Trust, drug companies , other study sponsors and ensuring the accurate collection and submission of data, in line with the study protocols and research regulations.

You will manage a caseload of research patients with complex transition and or learning disabilities.

You will work alongside the Research Transition Lead nurse to map out patient's journeys on research trials including exit strategies such as compassionate use programmes, post-trial access and managed access programmes.

You will advocate and champion for our research patients with learning disabilities and/or Autism to receive the highest possible standard of care throughout their research journey.

Supporting and empowering clinical services to work on clinical trials.
Education to the clinical services to feel confident and competent in participating in clinical research.
Ensuring integrity of data maintained of clinical trials running in clinical services.
Championing research across the trust and nationally through engagement opportunities.
Supporting the Research Transition Lead Nurse on compassionate use programmes.
Supporting the Research Transition Lead Nurse on Paediatric to Adult clinical trial transition.
Provide expert support and advice to the multidisciplinary team in the management of patients with learning disabilities/Autism

Ensuring that systems and processes are in place to identify research patients with learning disabilities/Autism and that their pathways of care are reasonably adjusted to meet their needs.

Ensuring the availability of a comprehensive range of patient information, designed for and with patients or parents with learning disabilities/Autism who are participating in research.

Ensuring that families and carers of patients with learning disabilities/Autism are properly supported, informed and engaged.

Academic/Professional qualification
NMC Registered Nurse (Child)
Possession of a relevant nursing degree
Evidence of ongoing dynamic continuing professional development

European Paediatric Life Support

Must demonstrate relevant and sufficient post registration experience (to include substantial experience at Band 6)
Previous knowledge and experience of CTIMP/ATIMP clinical research and audit
Experience or recruiting, educating and monitoring patients within clinical trials
Experience of handling clinical incidents and complaints
Experience of engaging young people with a learning disability/Autism in developing services to support their needs
Experience of working with children and young people to develop information designed to meet their needs
Understanding of professional and current issues in children's nursing, learning disability nursing and healthcare, e.g.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with children and young people with a learning disability, their families and with colleagues.

Experience of developing and implementing policies and procedures

Able to work with patients with learning disabilities/Autism to support a fully inclusive approach to participation in patient involvement and experience events.

Experience of facilitating training and education for clinical staff new to research
Experience of MDT working to provide Paediatric to Adult service transition for complex patients.
