A primary school in Trafford is currently seeking a Speech and Language TA to support our students in the classroom.
As a Speech and Language TA at this school, you will play a vital role in helping our students succeed by providing support to the class teacher and individual students with speech, language and communication difficulties.
You will work closely with teachers,Speech and Language Therapists (SLT) and other specialists to plan and deliver lessons that are inclusive and tailored to the needs of our students.
You will provide one-on-one and small group assistance to students who need extra support, and help to createa safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting the class teacher and SLT in the planning and delivery of speech and language therapy interventions
- Supporting individual students with oneonone and small group assistance, particularly those who have speech, language and communication difficulties
- Collaborating with other TAs, teachers, SLT and specialists to ensure the best possible outcomes for students
- Helping to create a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students
- Preparing materials and resources for classes and individuals, such as visual aids and communication aids
- Assisting with classroom management, including monitoring student behavior and providing positive reinforcement
- Participating in team meetings, staff development, and parentteacher conferences
- Assisting with the administration of assessments and the recording of student progress
- To maintain records of progress and provide regular feedback to the SLT, class teacher and parents.
- A relevant qualification in speech and language therapy or equivalent
- Experience working as a TA in a primary school setting and experience in working with children who have speech, language and communication difficulties
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A positive attitude and a willingness to go above and beyond to support students
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- A good understanding of the curriculum and teaching methods for primary school
- Patience and understanding of children's needs
- Willingness to work with children with different needs, including children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
