    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a B8a Matron for Education and Workforce to join the paediatric senior nursing team at HHFT.

    We are looking for an experienced Children's nurse with a passion for education to lead the education and workforce plans across Child Health.

    The role will work cross site where children receive care at HHFT supporting the acute paediatric & neonatal services alongside outpatient, community & special school staff.

    They will work with the Clinical Matrons, Lead Nurse CYP, Community lead, consultants & operational team to lead on the education agenda & develop & promote the workforce plan. They will build strong relationships with education providers across the region, managing the CPD budget & allocation of training & placement opportunities.

    The post will be responsible for leading on the recruitment & retention programme across Child Health utilising expertise to support the workforce pipeline & skills acquisition of staff.

    They will line manage the clinical practice facilitators, working with the neonatal educators to deliver a programme of educational opportunities for staff in Child Health enabling a skilled workforce to deliver exemplary care to the children and families using our services.

    The role will provide strong, visible, clinical leadership, promoting professional standards & offering guidance to all paediatric staff while working as an integral part of the senior nursing team in Child Health including supporting the on call rota.

    Main duties of the job

  • Provide professional leadership to all staff and line management to a range of allocated staff.
  • Develop exceptional working-together relationships, both within and outside the organisation that promote a culture of continuous improvement in quality and safety and assist in the implementation of the education and workforce strategies.
  • Create and maintain environments that support the implementation of the vision and values of HHFT and assist with embedding the Trust's vision and values into objectives, plans and business developments.

    Essential criteria

  • Registered Children's Nurse
  • Degree in related subject
  • Evidence of continuous professional practice and education
  • Study at MSc level
  • PG(Cert) or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Desirable criteria

  • MSc in a related subject

  • Advanced communication skills course
  • Experience and knowledge
