This is an exciting opportunity to assist with environmental inputs on a variety of major large-scale road and rail schemes across the UK including Wales & Borders as well as a variety of other Network Rail, Highways England and Transport for Wales contracts.


The role
Our Environment and Sustainability team provides strategic environmental consultancy services across transport, utilities, defence and local government infrastructure.

The team has a diverse range of skilled people with expertise in ecology, noise, air quality, landscape, arboricultural services, archaeology, carbon modelling, EIA coordination, EMS and auditing, and GIS specialists, servicing the consulting needs within the wider Amey group.


We are looking to grow our capability in several areas following successfully securing a number of very large infrastructures projects.

Due to this increased workload we are seeking to recruit a Seasonal Ecologist for a
6-month Fixed Term Contract.


In a typical week

We want to hear from you if

  • A degree in Ecology, Zoology, Botany, Biology, Environmental Science (with a strong ecology focus) or similar/equivalent
  • Ability to demonstrate previous experience in a professional ecological consultancy role
  • Qualifying membership of a Professional Body and Chartership such as CIEEM
  • Working towards Protected species licenses
  • Experience in protected species surveys
  • Experience in drafting ecological reports; including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and Method Statements
  • Thorough understanding of UK wildlife legislation
  • Health and Safety awareness, especially safe working practices and risk assessment related to ecology fieldwork
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues
  • Experience in resourcing ecological surveys
  • A full UK driving license
