    Main duties of the job

    We will provide a structured training programme to support your development as a Clinical Pharmacist. During this programme you will be working towards various competencies through ward-based assessments and activities. You will be supported and mentored by our lead Pharmacist for Education and Training to achieve the desired outcomes. As part of this programme, you will also be encouraged to take part in post-graduate studies such as CPD4all and Independent Prescribing which will be supported by the trust with no contractual obligations in place

    A satisfactory review of your portfolio at 12-18 months will result in progression to a Rotational Band 7 post. We will continue to support your future career as a hospital Pharmacist and encourage internal progression as per our career pathway (See attached).

    Job responsibilities

    As a Rotational Clinical Pharmacist you will work within various clinical specialities, such as:

  • Acute Medicine
  • Cardiology
  • Endocrine
  • Respiratory
  • General & Emergency Surgery
  • Care of the Elderly
  • Gastroenterology
  • You will work closely with the wider healthcare team to ensure medicines optimisation and safety throughout the patients stay with us. You will be required to display leadership and prioritisation skills in order to provide a high-quality pharmacy service to our trust.

    Your day-to-day tasks will include medicines reconciliation, patient counselling, medicines information, discharge planning and clinical reviews. You will also work within our Homecare, Oncology and TPN services.

    The post will require the post holder to participate in a 7-day working programme, on a rota basis and our out of hours on-call service.

    Experience and Knowledge

    Essential

  • oQualified Registered Pharmacist
  • oCommitment to continuing professional development and education
  • oSound knowledge base in clinical pharmacy
  • oVocational master's degree in pharmacy (MPharm) or equivalent
  • o1 year pre-registration training and experience
  • oRegistration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • oEffective verbal and written communication skills
  • oAbility to work alone & within a team
  • oOrganisational skills prioritising/time management for every day work
  • oAbility to cope in stressful situations and under pressure
  • oBasic IT skills (Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel etc)
  • Desirable

  • oPre-registration experience of > = 6months in hospital
  • oPost registration experience in hospital
  • oAt least one year of post registration pharmaceutical experience gained in Hospital, Community Pharmacy or General Practice
