£33,957 - £36,525 per annum (dependent on experience) plus generous pension scheme, Employee Assistance Programme and other benefits


Location:
SU Scotland's Edinburgh office


Start date:
October 2023 but can be flexible, depending upon requirements


Who we are:


Scripture Union Scotland's vision is to see all the children and young people of Scotland exploring the Bible and responding to the significance of Jesus.

We are a national charity, with around 100 staff and over 2,000 volunteers. Our activities take place in schools, outdoor activity centres, and churches.


We are seeking a full time East Team Leader to join our Local Ministries Team to lead SU Scotland's ministry in this region.

The successful applicant will also undertake some regional worker responsibilities.

The designation of which region the Team Leader is responsible for will be based upon current staffing and will be jointly determined on appointment.


Key Responsibilities

  • To fulfil the vision of Scripture Union Scotland in the East Regions, by leading the team as they work towards seeing children and young people DISCOVER God's love, EXPLORE the Bible, RESPOND to Jesus and FLOURISH in their faith.
  • Contributing to the development of Local Ministries strategy and direction as a member of the Local Ministries Management Team (LMMT)
  • Taking on a share of the national responsibilities necessary for managing the work of the Local Ministries Team
  • Leading and participating in national projects for resource development and training
  • Develop and strengthen ministry partnership, and invite others to partner with us.

Who we are looking for:


The successful applicant will have been involved in Christian ministry with children and young people and have demonstrated significant leadership within this.

Ideally you will be able to think strategically and have the ability to translate national strategy into regional strategy.

You will be able to communicate confidently, sensitively and diplomatically, in different contexts, including church-leaders, SU Scotland partners, Head Teachers and volunteers.


For this post, it is important that you able to demonstrate a commitment to SU Scotland's ethos, working principles and vision.

It is also an Occupational Requirement (Equality Act - part 1, schedule 9), that the post-holder is a committed Christian.
