    Teacher of Science with Chemistry/Physics - fixed term until 26/06/ St Thomas of Aquin's RC High School

    Salary: £32, - £48, (pro-rata for part time)
    Hours: 12.74 per week

    St Thomas of Aquin's Roman Catholic High School is a learning community that offers a safe, supportive, and enjoyable environment where staff, parents, and pupils are inspired and motivated to work hard for one another to ensure the full potential of all pupils is fulfilled. The school improvement plan focuses on areas such as children and young people's attainment/achievement, particularly in literacy and numeracy, closing the attainment gap between different groups of students, enhancing children and young people's health and wellbeing, and improving employability skills and school leaver destinations for all young individuals. A critical aspect of the school's improvement plan is to strive towards eliminating any correlation between lower attainment and children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

    Catholic Schools: Being of the Catholic faith is not a requirement for this position. However, given that this is a Roman Catholic school, candidates will need to be assessed concerning their religious beliefs and character by the Church. The selected candidate must, therefore, get in touch with the Edinburgh Diocesan Staffing Adviser to verify or confirm their status regarding Church Approval.

    Salaries will align with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

    This role involves regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act . The chosen candidate will need to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. In cases where an individual has spent three contiguous months or more outside the UK within the last five years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be necessary. You will be asked to provide this verification. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the satisfactory outcome of these pre-employment checks.
