    Requirements

    To assist with the evaluation, design, and implementation of high quality, efficient and effective building services and report to the Principal Building Services Engineer. To assist with the development and management of the Building Services group within the Design and Construction team, in accordance with the needs and priorities of the Council and internal and external clients.

    This position allows for a hybrid way of working, combining the conveniences of working in a team office with the flexibility of working from home.

    Responsibilities

    To assist the Principal Building Services Engineer in all aspects of management of the Building Services Engineering Group delegated by the Housing and Property Services Management Team, including staff resourcing, delegation of work and supervision.

    To perform all tasks relative to a professional Building Services Engineer and take responsibility for design and specification aspects of allocated projects from inception to completion.

    To ensure the timeous provision of appropriate information to the Principal Building Services Engineer, the Housing and Property Management Team and to Clients on matters of legitimate concern.

    To assist with 'Best Value' issues relating to Building Services Engineering.

    To assist with planning and programming of Capital and Revenue Works as requested, for all Clients.

    To ensure the Building Services Engineering Group complies with the Construction (Design and Management) and Health and Safety Regulations in all aspects of its work.

    The Individual

    Significant post qualification experience in a Building Services Engineering Practice.

    Experience of Educational Projects.

    Appropriate professional and technical qualifications to degree standard.

    Willingness to work in a demanding position where a flexible approach is required.

    Ability to accept direction/ delegation.

    Ability to organise and supervise work and staff.

    Knowledge of policies, issues, procedures and practices relating to the delivery of a Building Services Engineering Service.

    Contract Administration Experience.

    IT skills. Experience of Microsoft Excel, Access and Outlook Express Software.

    Computer aided drafting skills.

    Analytical and numerical skills.

    Knowledge of the Scottish Building Standards and the Building Services Compliance Guide for Scotland v1.1

    Knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations .

    You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car/van.

    Effective communication skills (both written and oral), negotiation and presentation skills

    Ability to relate well to Colleagues, Elected Members and the Public.

    Understanding of and importance of effective team working.

    Ability to carry out survey work at all building levels, including basement and attic spaces, and site inspections at ground and roof level, including accessing scaffolding.

    Ability to work in an open plan office.

    .Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs and demands of the service.

    Ability to work in different offices dependent on service requirements.

    £22.12 per hour
