Trainee Furniture Draughtsperson

Location:
Office based role in North Norfolk, near Fakenham

We are seeking an ambitious candidate who is passionate about Furniture Design or Product Design for a new trainee role within the Design Department.

The Role:

nThe role of Draughtsperson entails transforming Interior Designers and Architects' conceptual sketches and drawings into detailed technical working drawings to make from.

In the role you will learn about furniture design and construction and learn to use various computer aided drawing software to create detailed fabrication drawings.

You will work alongside experienced team members in the office and workshop.

You will gain experience in designing for our in house cabinet makers as well as other designing for metalworkers, upholsterers etc.

Examples of typical tasks include:
n

• Producing models and drawings using drawing softwaren
• Ensuring drawings are produced in line with company design and construction standardsn
• Undertaking research on materials, fixings and hardwaren
• Interpreting interior design and architectural drawingsn
• Quantifying materialsn
• Discussing materials and designs with suppliersn
• Checking details and information on drawingsn
• Assisting in the drawing officen
• Prototyping and modellingn
• Designing components and updating the design libraryn
• Assisting with site surveys

Formal Training will be provided alongside on the job training


This will include:
n

• CAD training including Solidworks and Draftsightn
• SWOOD Software training

The ideal candidate will have the following skillset and level of experience:n

• A relevant pass qualification in art and design or design technology at A Level, or equivalent college coursen
• At least 6 months of work experience (doesn't need to be design related)n
• Basic experience in using design software would be advantageousn
• The ability to present ideas and hand sketchn
• A portfolio or examples of design work, whether that was done at college or in spare timen
• Maths and English GCSE pass grade 4n
• A valid driving license with own transport – there is no public transport to the workshopn
• Very good IT skills

Whilst on the job training is provided, a demonstrable passion for design or furniture and a practical ability to understand technical concepts will be required to apply for this role.

n£21,000 per annumnInclusion in the company profit share scheme (Trainees are on a sliding scale in terms of their award)nPension scheme

Employment Details:
nFull time, permanent rolenHours: 8am – 4.
