    JOB TITLE: HSE Manager

    Salary - £40,000 - £45,000 DOE

    Adept Resourcing have been retained by a successful Sheffield based company operating within the steel industry as they look to recruit a Health, Safety and Environmental Manager.

    The role:

    As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will take the lead on all Health & Safety and Environmental issues.

    The main objective of this position is to maintain effective HSE policies, programs, and practices to ensure a safe and environmentally sustainable work environment for employees, contractors, and stakeholders.

    This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a thorough understanding of UK health, safety, and environmental regulations

    Specific responsibilities:

    ·Create and maintain HSE policies that align with UK regulations

    ·Industry best practices

    ·Company objectives

    ·Ensure effective implementation of these policies throughout the organization.

    ·Monitor health, safety, and environmental regulations, and ensure the company's compliance.

    ·Liaise with regulatory bodies, participate in inspections, and maintain all necessary permits and licenses

    ·Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, assess compliance with applicable regulations, and evaluate the effectiveness of existing safety and environmental programs.

    ·Prepare reports and communicate findings to senior management

    ·Identify potential HSE risks and hazards within the workplace

    ·Develop strategies and implement measures to mitigate risks and prevent accidents, injuries, and environmental incidents.

    ·Develop and deliver HSE training programs to educate employees on safe work practices, emergency response procedures, and environmental protection.

    ·Promote a culture of safety and environmental awareness throughout the organization.

    ·Incident investigation and reporting

    ·Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, near misses, and environmental spills.

    ·Identify root causes, recommend corrective actions, and ensure timely reporting in accordance with regulatory requirements

    ·Evaluate the HSE performance of contractors and suppliers.

    ·Establish and maintain effective contractor management processes, including pre-qualification, performance evaluation, and ongoing monitoring.

    Desirable Skills

    ·A degree in engineering, occupational health and safety, environmental science, or a related field.

    ·Relevant professional certifications such as NEBOSH or IOSH.

    ·In-depth knowledge of UK health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.

    ·Experience in HSE management, preferably in an engineering or industrial setting.

    ·Strong leadership and communication skills

    ·Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities to identify and address HSE risks effectively.

    ·Experience in incident investigation techniques and root cause analysis.

    ·Proficiency in HSE management systems and software.

    ·Ability to prioritise tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
