Temporary Social Work Assistant/Family Worker x2

Pay rate:
£12.69 per hour PAYE


Hours per week: 35-37 Monday - Friday, normal working hours

This opening assignment is for 6-7 months

City:
DURHAM, County Durham


Enhanced DBS required for this role

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide or arrange transport to children and young people where required.
  • Compile Life Story books for children and young people and complete direct work with children, young people and their families and carers to inform Life Story Work.
  • Provide support to the Social Work Team.
  • Provide support to the children, young people and their families/ carers where required.
  • Work after 5pm most evenings to cover family time after school for an hour.

If you are successful in securing this role, please note that for the entire duration of this contract, regardless of extension you will be working this role at the PAYE rate that has been advertised. Qualifications:


  • Level 2 qualification (e.g. NVQ2) in health and social care or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience.

Experience & Knowledge:


  • Significant experience of working in a health or social care environment, providing advice and supporting adults with care and support needs with a wide range of needs including learning disabilities, physical disabilities, long term conditions and dementia.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing and reviewing support plans.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of community resources and how to access these.
  • Working knowledge of IT packages such as Microsoft Office.

Skills & Abilities:


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Extremely organised and able to work in a busy environment.
  • The ability to liaise effectively and build productive working relationships with other agencies and providers.
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
  • Flexible and able to supervise family time for children after school hours.

Full Driving licence, access to a vehicle or access to means of mobility support.
