Main duties of the job


With demonstrable experience of working in a in a people environment you will be a dynamic and committed individual looking to take the next step in your HR advisory career.


Day-to-day, you will be the first point of contact providing specialist employment advice and guidance to one of our clinical or corporate divisions.


With our support, you'll also help to move forward change management programmes, implement national initiatives and achieve national HR performance targets.

Working for our organisation


We work our hours flexibly across the week and currently undertake a mixture of home and office based (hybrid) working around meeting requirements across our hospital campuses.

This is a fast-paced role that relies on your ability to work to manage a case load of employment relations matters autonomously and your excellent communication skills.

You'll be able to multi-task, organise your time and move seamlessly from one task to another.

Qualifications:

Essential criteria

  • HR and Employment Law knowledge to degree level, acquired through training and experience
  • Evidence of continued professional development (CPD)
Desirable criteria

  • CIPD Qualification
Experience

Essential criteria

  • Recent experience within a Human Resources advisory role, including advising on terms and conditions of employment
  • Practical experience of supporting managers dealing with employee relations matters including disciplinary and grievance issues, and managing sickness absence
  • Understanding of key employment legislation existing and prospective
Desirable criteria

  • Experience of working in a healthcare/ NHS environment
  • Experience of working in a large complex organisation
  • Experience of working in a unionised environment
  • Experience of the NHS Job Evaluation Scheme and CAJE (Computer Aided Job Evaluation)
Planning

Essential criteria

  • Managing a heavy and diverse workload including multitasking, coordinating, prioritising and using effective organisation, time management and planning skills
  • Ability to create and plan training events for stakeholders
Desirable criteria

  • Supporting HR / People projects i.e. staff engagement
Communications

Essential criteria

  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written including communicating complex information to a wide range of different professional groups
  • Producing notes at meetings and assisting with writing letters and reports to a high standard
  • Managing sensitive and challenging situations confidentially and with sensitivity including the ability to challenge appropriately
  • Delivering training and presentations to stakeholders
Desirable criteria

  • Working with a variety of stakeholders, including trade union representatives
Analytical

Essential criteria

  • Experience of and ability to analyse information and drawing conclusions/making recommendations
  • Able to effectively manage differing and sometimes conflicting routine and nonroutine demands for time and resources

  • Able to identify and implement improvements to systems and service provision

  • Travel between sites and attend training, meetings, site visits, external sites and home visits etc., as necessary
