    Job Summary

    Defence Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Munitions and Search (DEMS) Training Regiment is on the lookout for a motivated individual to join their logistics department in the role of Ammunition Accountant.

    We are looking for a friendly, well-organized, and adaptable individual to collaborate with civilians and military personnel, playing a crucial role in the training of bomb disposal operators. This position is hands-on and involves interacting with the business, thus requiring on-site presence for most of the working week.

    This role will be based at Kineton and is part of the logistic/administrative/technical support team, contributing to keeping the UK at the forefront of this specialized field.

    Job Description

    The Ammunition Accountant plays a critical role within the Stores and Logistics department, involving a mix of indoor and outdoor tasks. By closely collaborating with military and civilian colleagues, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and uninterrupted training of courses.

    The Unit Ammunition Accountant is tasked with liaising with a military storekeeper and serving as the key point of contact for handling all ammunition and explosives within MOD inventory accounting systems, managing the Joint Deployed Inventory (MJDI), Churchill, UAMS.

    Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Receipt and issue of stores, including explosives and ammunition, in compliance with Defence Logistic Framework using the MJDI system.
  • Ensure compliance with ammunition stock holding regulations as per Defence Safety Authority Ordinance Munitions and Explosives, Defence Logistics Framework, and Standing Orders.
  • Utilize processes outlined in the Unit Equipment Care Directive to manage faulty or damaged equipment
  • Authorized Representative for the transportation of Dangerous Goods by Road
  • Desirable Skills:

    Possessing knowledge of the Stores Management Environment is advantageous but not mandatory, as comprehensive training will be provided.

    Depending on business requirements, some roles may offer a mix of office and home-based work. Such arrangements are non-contractual, and office-based employees are generally expected to spend at least 60% of their time in the office, subject to capacity and necessary adjustments. Attendance at other locations for official business or working at another MOD office also counts towards this requirement.     New MOD recruits who are new to the Civil Service will undergo a six-month probation period.
