    Discover the unique opportunity to work with our client at The Open University, a distinguished public Distance Learning and Research University.

    As one of the largest universities in the UK for undergraduate education, they are at the forefront of innovation and education excellence.

    They are looking to recruit a Student Voice Assistant to start 22/04/2024; the end date will be 31/07/2024.

    The position will be working part time (20 hours per week, 4 hours per day Monday - Friday - specific hours to be discussed) and is paying £13.38ph.

    It is anticipated that a hybrid working pattern can be adopted for this role, where the successful candidate can work from home and the office.

    However, it is expected that some attendance in the Milton Keynes office will be required when necessary and in response to business needs, approximately twice a month with perhaps more often at the start to accommodate any training requirements.

    About the Role


    As a member of the Office of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Students), this role within the Student Voice Team works with a wide range of stakeholders across the OU and OU Students Association, to support student engagement activities that actively contribute to the strategic priorities of the University.

    Key Responsibilities


    Working with colleagues across the OU and OU Students Association to administer regular online student forums on the University's Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).

    Acting as the main point of contact for the University's Student Consultation mechanisms, managing related web forms and mailboxes using OU systems and MS Outlook acting on incoming messages by following procedures or alerting colleagues.

    Setting up online forums, drafting and sending emails (from templates) or setting basic timetables for activity (from templates) and chasing to ensure deadlines are met.

    Setting up online meetings using MS Teams, putting together notices, agendas and notes.

    Supporting the development, implementation and communication of the Office of PVC (Students) strategic priorities and wider activities, including providing administrative support where required.

    This role involves a lot of independent working and use of a wide range of IT applications.

    This team works largely from home so there is an expectation that work is independent, with colleagues on hand for support, often using the MS Teams messaging function.

    Skills and Experience

    Experienced and competent in using Microsoft Office software, including Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
    Strong organisational skills including planning work, balancing conflicting demands, working to deadlines, and remaining effective under time pressures.
    Good attention to detail.
    Ability to work independently.
    Willingness and aptitude to use new IT applications.
    Ideally, we are looking for candidates with higher education or work experience.
