    Senior Merchandise Planner - Part Time

    Role Overview:

    The Merchandise Planning Manager will be a critical ally to the Merchandising, Finance and Regional channels, tasked with interpreting and acting on product possibilities and market challenges. This role involves the creation of seasonal merchandise plans, assessment of product yield, and the execution of timely in-season and end-of-season evaluations across Regional channels, all while partnering effectively with various team sectors.

    Purpose and Scope

    Merchandise Strategy:

    • Take ownership of pre-season purchase projections by category, program, core items, and product segmentation for all Key Performance Indicators at crucial consumer engagement junctures.
    • Define overarching financial objectives and offer strategic direction for all sales forecasts and purchasing operations, ensuring deep market penetration by product classification and diversity.
    • Assemble and dissect quarterly, seasonal, and annual shipment data, product style numbers, and profit margins for regional channels. Analyse real figures against forecasts to extract business performance insights and to understand variations.
    • Identify strengths and potential issues in product flow and inter-channel dynamics to shape collection strategies.
    • Investigate and identify opportunities to boost product line efficiency by tracking early-season development, adoption rates, and sales productivity, with the aim to minimize unproductive stock and enhance sales vigour.
    • Ensure that product planning is aligned with the progressive nature of the product line architecture.

    Market Analysis:

    • Evaluate sales effectiveness across regional channels.
    • Pinpoint business opportunities within the current season and beyond.
    • Conduct Week-to-Date (WTD) and Month-to-Date (MTD) sales assessments and communicate findings.
    • Provide insights from Quarter-to-Date (QTD) and Season-to-Date (STD) sales retrospects.
    • Monitor primary revenue drivers and sales trends.
    • Identify best and worst performers; analyse colour sales statistics.
    • Regularly update the assortment plan and share learning outcomes.
    • Deliver both qualitative and quantitative analysis at quarterly and seasonal reviews and investment meetings, drawing insights to steer future product line designs.
    • Undertake margin and expense analyses to ensure profit objectives are met and to spotlight potential risks and discrepancies.
    • Facilitate weekly sales discussions with the Merchandising and Regional channels to delve into sales trends and explore deeper insights.
    • Develop and refine standardised reporting and processes to heighten efficiency and enhance team output.
    • Handle and respond to ad-hoc analysis requests as needed.

    Qualifications & Experience:

    Experience:

    • 3 to 5+ years in a bricks and mortar retail environment, with prior roles in Planning, Buying, or Retail analytics.
    • Must be comfortable working within a fast growth, start-up environment - being able to adapt, and work at a fast pace.

    Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field.

    Skills:

    • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
    • Experience with ACS, SAP, 7th On-Line, MicroStrategy/Lighthouse, Miro/Visulon is preferred.
    • Exceptional analytical and retail math acumen.
    • Excellent time management, attention to detail, problem-solving, interpersonal, and organisational skills - clear communication across different groups is vital.
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

    Decision-Making: Must possess the ability to make rapid decisions in an ever-evolving landscape.
