    How you'll make a difference

    In this exciting and varied role, you will be responsible for evaluating and driving forward the Creative Solutions Board project.

    Under the direction of the Public Health Consultant and Principal, you will work in partnership across the Local Authority and with a range of stakeholders to contribute to improvements in service delivery throughout the system, finding creative solutions to the issues faced by individuals and families with complex lives.

    You will be confident and passionate about making a real difference for individuals and families with complex needs, and champion change through innovation and creativity. You will play a key role in system leadership to influence processes, culture, and outcomes.

    The wider Public Health team is comprised of a group of professional staff who lead in specific areas of public health within the following programme areas:

  • Mental health, Inequalities and Community engagement
  • Healthy Lifestyles and Place
  • Drugs, Alcohol and Sexual health
  • This is for a limited term contract for one year.

    This post is restricted to permanent and temporary employees of South Gloucestershire Council only.

    What will you be doing?

  • In this role, you will be a source of specialist advice on public health and systemic social work, contributing to the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.
  • It will be your responsibility to lead on delivering programmes to address health inequalities using a range of approaches.
  • You will use research evidence, undertaking needs assessment and evaluation for specific initiatives and interpreting data to make informed decisions to inform future plans.
  • Daily, you will apply specialist knowledge to make judgements about developing approaches with outcomes that are monitored and evaluated.
  • You will provide specialist advice to professionals and front-line workers working with individuals and families e.g. multi-disciplinary teams, steering group and directors of services.
  • You will support practitioners and the wider public health workforce in their role and in understanding complexity.
  • What we need from you

  • We require you to hold a relevant degree with professional qualification, or equivalent specialist qualification, or have equivalent level of experience in public health, social work, education, or social science.
  • It is essential that you have relevant experience and knowledge of the functionality of the support sectors.
  • You will have the ability to make effective decisions to organise work and projects to agreed deadlines either as a member of a team or working alone.
  • To be successful in this role, you will have the ability to manage and utilise data and performance information to make improvements.
  • You must demonstrate well developed interpersonal skills for persuading and influencing and will be able to build relationships and communicate effectively with customers and have good analytical and problem solving capabilities.
  • You will have experience of working in partnership with local people/practitioners/organisations to deliver projects.
