We are looking for a passionate Lecturer - Access to HE (Science) to join our busy and vibrant Early Years, Education & Social Care Department.


Responsibilities include:


  • To design and deliver a wide range of effective and inclusive teaching and learning activities mainly in an online capacity.
  • To assess the work and progress of all students and provide them with constructive and timely feedback.
  • To seek ways of improving student performance by reflecting on teaching design and delivery and obtaining and analysing feedback.
  • To engage in professional development in relation to teaching, learning and assessment, including the use of an evidenceinformed approach, which utilises the outcomes of scholarship to enhance teaching practice
  • To contribute to course development and the development of new programmes of study demonstrating an inclusive and collaborative approach to delivery.
  • To contribute to outreach and/or widening participation activity within the Department/ School
  • To produce Plans of learning, lesson plans, assessment plans, varied learning materials and any other related activities that positively impact on the effectiveness of learning.
  • To maintain records of formative and summative assessments of students' learning carried out.
  • To plan, deliver and assess high quality teaching and associated activities on courses and programmes as specified by the Head of School/Department
  • To participate proactively in the design, development and delivery of enrichment and enhancement activity
  • To undertake research and/or scholarly activity that feeds directly into teaching and learning and as agreed by the Head of School/Department

Education & Training

  • GCSE 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
  • GCSE 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English or be prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
  • Degree or Level 6 professional qualification
  • A recognised teaching qualification or willingness to work towards a qualification within 12 Months

Experience

  • Recent experience of delivering science at Level 3 or equivalent
  • Experience of successful teaching/training and the evidence of performance data to support it (e.g., Lesson observations, retention and achievement data, high grade successes)
  • Experience of highquality teaching within an FE environment or equivalent related industrial experience especially to include online delivery.
  • Experience of the effective design and delivery of highquality inclusive teaching and learning activities
  • Up to date knowledge of content and methods of teaching and /or supporting learning including the value and use of learning technologies
  • Experience of improving the learning environment, teaching and/or assessment and feedback methods
  • Experience of student pastoral care and disciplinary procedures
