Kaizen Apprenticeship
Kaizen is a Japanese word that translated into English means "continuous improvement". At Nissan, Kaizen refers to refining business processes to raise quality standards, cut costs, and reduce wasted time. Working within the Kaizen department, you will support key shop floor improvement activities.
On this apprenticeship you'll split your time between Nissan and a local college to learn the practical and theoretical skills you need to succeed in this innovative and fulfilling role.
Our Kaizen apprenticeship is a three-year scheme, during which you'll gain valuable insight into all aspects of automotive assembly process, including the design and manufacture of 'Low-Cost Automation', as well as maintenance of facilities to achieve both quality improvements and cost savings.
You'll also acquire the skills and knowledge required to work as a member of the team responsible for maintaining the facilities and automotive tooling here at Nissan.

'As part of the Kaizen team, you will have the opportunity to work cross functionally with colleagues throughout the Nissan team to use your skills, knowledge, and creativity in making vital improvements to the production environment.
From simple repairs to existing facility, to the development of new ideas, you will have the opportunity to see these brought to life, generating improvements across many aspects of the production cycle.
Apprenticeship overview:
The Kaizen apprenticeship scheme has been specially developed by Nissan in conjunction with a local college to combine theoretical and practical skills.
You'll split your time between college and working as part of a team responsible for producing innovative solutions for our manufacturing operations.
What you'll achieve at the end of your Apprenticeship
This is an exciting role giving you the opportunity to 'think outside the box' to play your part in the continuous development of our plant.
- Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering
- Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering

What you'll need
Entry requirements - 4 GCSE grades or equivalent (achieved or predicted)
- Mathematics (Grade A-C or 4+)
- English Language (Grade A-C or 4+)
- Your uptodate CV; including predicted or achieved grades for ALL qualifications.

Applicants must be 16 or over at the start of the apprenticeship.
The recruitment process is carried out at Nissan Sunderland Plant SR5 3NS and you must be prepared to attend assessments as required.
Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK and proof will be requested during the selection process.NMUK have a zero tolerance approach to the misuse of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
We carry out pre-employment testing for the use of drugs and alcohol during the recruitment process.
