Opening for a Senior Tax Advisor with a leading international energy services company. You will be working in the Corporate Tax Department, overseeing UK tax functions.
Overview
Reporting to the Tax Manager, responsibilities include timely completion of UK corporation tax returns, managing compliance, and assisting with overseas tax filings.
You'll need excellent project management skills and flexibility to meet deadlines while accommodating non-tax colleagues' schedules.
Strong self-motivation and independence are also key, along with staff management responsibilities for the Corporate Tax Assistant.
Main duties and responsibilities
UK corporate tax compliance (tax return and statutory reporting) and advisory activities:
Preparing the corporation tax and deferred tax figures and disclosures for incorporation in the UK statutory accounts for the UK group.
Preparing the UK corporation tax returns and computations for group, to include double tax relief claims, rollover/holdover claims, group relief claims, patent box and research and development claims, corporate interest restriction calculations etc.
Preparing the Overseas UK branch corporation tax returns and computations for the group/liaison with advisors assisting in the process.Working with the wider Tax, Finance and Commercial teams, advising on the structuring and implications of commercial transactions to include cross-border transactions.
Advising on UK tax implications of potential M&A activity and restructuring.Assisting with HMRC enquiries/audits as required.
Working with external providers (as required) on the UK tax compliance and advisory matters.
VAT
Assisting with the UK
VAT group maintenance, monthly
VAT return process and acting as a point of contact for
VAT queries.
Preparing estimates to support QIPs, calculating and arranging for re-allocation/repayment of QIP overpayments etc.
Managing the UK group's GPA.
Working with the UK Tax Manager to ensure appropriate internal controls are in place and pro-actively seek out and develop solutions to mitigate risks and identify opportunities.
US GAAP reporting:
Preparing and assisting the wider Finance team with quarterly and annual US GAAP tax reporting requirements.
Preparing ad-hoc correspondence with HMRC.
Supervising and developing more junior members of staff.
Assisting the UK Tax Manager in any other activities relevant to this role as they arise.
Applicants to this role require
Qualified CA/CTA (essential).
Excellent technical knowledge within UK corporate tax (essential) .
Previous experience in working in a company with multi-jurisdictional concerns, or within an accountancy firm dealing with cross border issues (essential).
UKVAT knowledge (desirable).
Tax software knowledge - Onesource (desirable).
