Overview of the Electrical Supervisor
2fawcett are recruiting for an Electrical supervisor based in Lancashire. This is an exciting role to develop your career and get stuck in a new challenge. As Electrical Supervisor, you will contribute to the Company's objectives by manufacturing products better, faster and cheaper.


Responsibilities of the Electrical Supervisor
Attaining all targets relating to quality, people, cost, machines and any resources within your area of control.

Targets may be varied at the discretion of the Engineering Manager in respect of the following:
Housekeeping; R&M Costs; Energy Costs; Planned Maintenance; Print machine downtime

  • Ensuring safe working practices are carried out by all Engineering personnel under your control, including external contractors, in accordance with the Health & Safety At Work Act 1974 and Company's safety rules:
  • All contractors are issued with relevant permits and site H&S rules before commencing work
- All Engineering personnel are issued with and work in accordance with the site Lock Out Procedure for plant isolation, including Permits to Work, when required
- Prompt action is taken to improve a working method/machine in line with the Company's Accident Investigation Procedure
- Electrical isolation & earth bonding checks are carried out and records kept in line with legal requirements and IEE 18th Edition Regs
- All Engineering personnel are provided with and work in accordance with the safe working practices when using ladders, scaffolding, portable staging and lifting equipment
- All contractors comply with IEE 18th Edition Regs in accordance with Certification required for portable appliances and for work carried out

  • Maintaining any areas within your control and always ensuring a clean and tidy manner:
  • All redundant equipment and parts not used within the last 2 years to be continually assessed (required or not)
- Ensure all Engineering personnel remove debris after carrying out machine repairs and installation
- Maintained the workshop to a high level of housekeeping with all materials and equipment neatly stored

  • Maintaining the plant and equipment in an efficient operating condition at all times:
  • Machines are maintained in accordance with published planned maintenance programs
- Engineering downtime is controlled to level >2% for site and >1.5% in Prints
- Repairs and maintenance costs are kept within agreed budgeted levels each month and engineering overtime is minimised without prejudice to factory's efficient operation
- Issue and control of all portable electrical tools, extension leads, transformers, etc. Ensure a correct record of issue is maintained and account for all tools being returned upon completion

  • Measuring of energy usage in the plant on a regular basis:
  • Electricity usage recorded each week and information passed to the Mechanical Supervisor
- Any adverse trends are investigated promptly and cause determined
- Daily electrical usage is recorded and information passed to the Engineering Manager

  • Training on new or current installation as and when necessary:
  • The use of computer systems for the allocation of engineering workload and maintenance resources
  • Ensuring quality performance requirements are maintained within your area of responsibility:
  • Efficient and accurate control of processes through equipment functions is maintained
- All members of the team are aware of their responsibility in achieving the required standards
- Full participation and positive action is taken to maintain ISO 9002
- Prompt action is taken to investigate and implement corrective actions

  • Ensuring the following environmental aspects in relation to your area of responsibility are effectively controlled:
  • The effluent control plant is maintained on a monthly basis through the use of a formal PM schedule
- The Tomlinson Baker scrubber unit is checked on a quarterly PM schedule to ensure effective operation
- Any faults/inefficiencies shown in the annual exhaust fan review are immediately rectified
- Proactive action is taken to minimise energy usage and waste
- Water sampler is changed and maintained on a 4 day continuous cycle

  • Ensuring the RealTime system is maintained so information is correct on a daily basis regarding hours of work, holidays, sickness, etc, prior to download to the payroll

Requirements of the Electrical Supervisor

  • Achievement of appropriate Engineering qualification and/or equivalent and skill level
  • 18th Edition IEE
  • Able to accurately record & report information
  • Good knowledge and use of Microsoft Office
  • Leadership understands Company objectives, procedural & legislative demands and able to communicate t
