    IGM is hiring a Junior Emerging Markets Analyst for its European team, based in London, as maternity leave cover with a fixed contract period.

    The candidate will cover all aspects of EM financial markets, including foreign exchange, rates and credit.

    A solid written and spoken command of the English language is essential. Pro-actively liaising with market participants and being able to write quickly in an accurate and dependable manner is also pivotal.

    The ideal applicant should have a broad understanding of current economic affairs and preferably have some knowledge of Emerging Market characteristics/key themes. They should also be enthusiastic and willing to learn, work well within a team as well as independently, and be strongly motivated to shape their working experience and career inside our growing team.

    We will take into consideration the attitude and the determination of our applicants, in addition to direct experience and academic background.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Compiling regular daily, weekly and monthly reports for email distribution and website publication.
  • Utilising own knowledge and experience to assist with regular forecasting.
  • Reporting on FX/rates market movements for specific EM countries.
  • Writing accurate and timely analysis on economic and political events that affect EM markets.
  • Writing insightful viewpoints and trading strategies using information sourced from contacts and own knowledge.
  • Source and share information/content across other desks within the credit, FX and rates teams, where required.
  • Pre- and post-launch analysis of major credit deals, utilising timely and accurate market derived information (rumours, price talk, book-build and pricing analysis versus comparables).
  • Providing timely and accurate credit updates, including price talk, book build and distribution.
  • Qualifications

  • Degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English language).
  • Fast and accurate typing.
  • An ability to work under intense time pressure and to quickly react to market moving events.
  • Ability to quickly read and understand data, identifying trends and anomalies.
  • Ability to actively generate own workflow and prioritise workload.
  • An enquiring mind and a flexible attitude.
  • Ability to foster relationships both internally and externally.
  • Must be a team player.
