    Applications are invited for three twelve months fellowship post in Neuro-ophthalmology and Strabismus in one of the largest provincial ophthalmic unit in the UK. This post is to commence 1st week of August 2024

    The fellowship is based at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. The Neuro-ophthalmology firm has 3 consultant ophthalmologists - Mr Vishwanath, Mr Yagan and Miss Littlewood in addition to a consultant neurologist - Dr Zermansky. The unit is supported by a big orthoptic department headed by Mrs Veronica Greenwood, and an electrophysiology department headed by Professor Neil Parry.

    Main duties of the job

    The Fellow will participate in outpatient clinics undertaking diagnosis, management and follow up of patients under the care of the Consultants. He or she will undertake surgery both under supervision and, where appropriate, unsupervised. The Fellow attends outpatient clinic sessions and dedicated operating sessions under the direction of the Consultant trainers.

    Job responsibilities

    A fellow timetable typically includes:

    2-3 neuro-ophthalmology clinics

    1 Strabismus clinic

    1 GA strabismus theatre list

    1 LA theatre list (cataracts) when working with Mr Ali

    1 Botox clinic

    Weekly neuro-ophthalmology and strabismus MDT

    Neuro-radiology MDT on monthly basis.

    Please note timetables are subject to change as per prevailing conditions and may be done without discussion or consent of the fellow. Usually, the fellow timetables rotate on a three-monthly basis.

  • Medical Degree
  • completed post graduate training and obtained post graduate qualification in ophthalmology and experience needed for supervising other trainees in emergency department
