    Churchill Theatres Band , Senior Scrub Practitioners - Nurses and ODP's
    Churchill Hospital operating theatres are looking for a self-motivated, experienced theatre scrub practitioner to take on this exciting and challenging role in the Churchill Theatres.
    This department comprises of operating theatres, which cover a wide range of emergency and elective surgery including – UGI, LGI, HPB, Urology, Head and Neck, Transplant, Gynae Oncology, Breast Surgery, Endocrine & Robotic service.

    The successful applicant will be a Registered Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner with substantial scrub experience at band .

    You will be responsible for leading within our dynamic theatre team on a day-to-day basis, whilst supporting the longer-term planning of care delivery within one specific speciality. You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work using your own initiative.

    We offer a supernumerary period within theatres, a designated mentor to support you and a comprehensive competency package to provide structure and facilitate learning.

    Main duties of the job

    This job description outlines the core requirements expected of a Band Deputy Team Leader and is aligned to the Trust's clinical nurse/ODP career ladder.

    These will be included as an addition to these generic descriptors as role specific prior to employment together with the clinical skills ladder as a point of reference for development and progression.

  • Promote effective interpersonal relationships with all members of the multi-professional team thereby ensuring a good team spirit, collaborative and person centred working practices.
  • Deputise for the Team leader in his/her absence, demonstrating a sound problem solving approach to clinical and management issues, seeking advice from senior staff as appropriate.
  • Regularly act as shift coordinator, participating in the allocation of resources, ensuring effective patient care and safety in the department.
  • Be proactive in undertaking specific responsibilities as delegated by Team Leader on a rotational basis with colleagues, take responsibility for off duty planning, work allocation and monitoring off annual leave and sickness/absence.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of budgetary restrictions and their implications. Act as a budgetary signatory in the absence of the Team Leader.
  • Ensure that electronic patient acuity and dependency and safe staffing tools are consistently and effectively inputted on a daily basis.
