Research Assistant:

from £35,490 to £37,488 inclusive of London Weighting with potential to progress to £38,532 per annum inclusive of London Weighting through sustained exceptional contribution.



Research Fellow:

from £39,607 to £44,240 inclusive of London Weighting with potential to progress to £46,771 per annum inclusive of London Weighting through sustained exceptional contribution.

The Additive Manufacturing and 4D Printing Research Group is looking to recruit a Research Fellow/Research Assistant in Digital Manufacturing Design.

The post-holder is expected to contribute to activities including but not limited to:


  • Creating teaching material and conducting training events and workshops
  • Collecting data through surveys and other data collection methods
  • Designing, developing and optimising computer aided design components
  • Undertaking advanced FEA mechanical and thermal analysis combined with topological optimisation, generative design and Design for Manufacturing
  • Performing Design of Experiments by simulation and Multiscale modelling
  • Supporting the management of project related activities such as reports, documentation, facilitation of meetings, attending meetings (local and overseas)
  • Undertaking tasks related to administration processes including but not limited to report writing, papers and proposal / grant writing preparation
will need to be confident in the use of various CAD software packages (for example Solidworks, Fusion360, Ansys, etc.). Knowledge of Additive Manufacturing, Welding and Brazing is desirable, but not essential. Please refer to the Post-description for the full post-profile.
