As a Special Education Needs Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality education to secondary-aged students who are learning at a primary level.
Your expertise in special education and commitment to student-centred teaching will be instrumental in helping students overcome barriers to learning and thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Plan and deliver differentiated lessons that cater to the individual needs and abilities of students with special educational needs, focusing on core subjects such as English, mathematics, science, and humanities.
Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) and other relevant stakeholders, ensuring that goals are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound.
Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments, and use data to inform instructional decisions and modify teaching approaches as needed.
Collaborate effectively with colleagues, including teaching assistants, therapists, and support staff, to ensure a coordinated approach to meeting the diverse needs of students.
Stay abreast of developments in the field of special education and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practice and knowledge.
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential, with a relevant degree in education or a related field.Specialism or additional qualification in special education needs (SEN) is highly desirable.
Previous experience teaching students with special educational needs, particularly at the secondary level, is advantageous.
Strong understanding of various learning difficulties, including but not limited to dyslexia, dyscalculia, autism spectrum disorders, and speech and language impairments.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the academic and personal growth of students with special educational needs.
