Senior Policy Manager


Location:
Flexible, hybrid working - office is in London; the role-holder will be expected to join regular team sessions and meetings in the London office each month, with flexibility on working remotely at other times


Salary:
£52,000 - £55,000


Hours:
Full time, permanent role hours/week, open to and supportive of flexible working

About the role:


You will be working for a not for profit organisation with an ambitious policy agenda to deliver structural change in financial inclusion.

As Senior Policy Manager you will work closely with the Director of Strategy and Policy, and lead on key areas of strategic policy development and influencing.


The organisation operates a unique position in between the financial services industry and the social sector which focuses on financial inclusion.

You will be expected to design policy positions and to influence key stakeholders in both of these stakeholder groups, as well as with key political and policy contacts.


You will lead on policy workstreams to advance the cause of financial inclusion in regulatory and legislative matters, and to advance the position and understanding among key policy makers to achieve this.

This is a key new role which includes research, communications, policy, strategy, impact and engagement.

The team establishes and communicates the evidence base for investing in fair and affordable financial products and services, with the objective of delivering the structural changes that we're seeking in how financial services works for customers in vulnerable circumstances in the UK.


This role will have a focus on policy development and delivery, including leading the development of key organisational policy objectives, overseeing the development of policy positions and responding to consultations.

Alongside this, the role will be expected to manage political engagements, represent the organisation at parliamentary events and development strong relationships with partner organisations.


About you:
The successful Senior Policy Manager will need to come from a strong evidence-based policy background with excellent analytical skills, ideally your experience will be across financial services regulation and social policy

You will also need to bring with you the following skills and experience:
*Direct experience of building policy programmes and influencing key stakeholder groups to reach key policy outcomes, ideally experience delivering regulatory or legislative change
*Be an outstanding communicator, able to represent the charity with senior stakeholders and be great at building relationships at all levels
*Creative thinker, able to deal with complexity and uncertainty and work under your own initiative
